vocal bio
brian z has been involved in music, theatre, dance and visual arts. he received his B.A. from Virginia Wesleyan College in Norfolk/Virginia Beach VA and his MFA from The George Washington University in Washington DC. performances have included a vast range of venues, from off-Broadway, to small private events, to large corporate affairs, to film and television. his contributions to events have contributed to national and international awards from the International Special Events Society.
as a vocalist, brian z interprets a variety of standards and ballads in the jazz vein. citing influences from jazz greats like Sarah Vaughn to Ben Webster, to current artists, brian potrays a wide range of stylistic impulses.
vocal studies have included work with recording artists Ronnie Wells & Ron Elliston, Lisa Rich, and Christina Crerar. additional studies have included improvisational workshops with Sweet Honey in the Rock and spoken word with movment and performance with Liz Lerman and Maida Withers.
